STOP PRESS! I woke up to the horrendous news this Monday morning. It is a very sad Vegas I am leaving behind. God Bless America!
I’m in Las Vegas for the very first time! I was expecting it to be big but the reality outstrips every expectation! It is the most ridiculous place I have ever been! I don’t know if I love it or hate it but I do know that after two days I need to get out into some real world!
This morning I have nearly walked my 10,000 steps already – just getting to breakfast. I walked past a fake Eiffel tower, to fake Venice complete with fake San Marco Campanile, Bridge of Sighs and an indoor canal. I found breakfast in a beautiful French restaurant – great eggs Benedict! Then back though The Forum – the biggest shopping mall I have ever seen. Then the fake ancient Italy of Caesar’s Palace – there are already hundreds of lone people playing the slot machines in the giant casino. The beautiful shops of the Via Bellagio are already busy; I couldn’t resist asking the price of a beautiful Chanel handbag – just $4,100!
I just have one thought I can’t get out of my head. Billions of dollars are spent in this fake world every day. Why don’t we feed the world instead?
I’m looking forward to getting out into the desert!
